Gulf Shores, AL 36542
Pack your clubs and prepare for three unforgettable days on the Alabama Gulf Coast! The SGAA is headed to Gulf Shores, a hidden gem where southern charm meets stunning coastal beauty. This vibrant beach town offers more than sugar-white sands and warm breezes—it's also home to some of the finest golf in the region, making it the perfect destination for our upcoming Member Guest Tournament.
Lodging
Our home base for this trip is the Courtyard by Marriott Craft Farms, conveniently located near top-tier golf courses and local attractions. Nestled beside the Craft Farms Golf Resort, this modern, comfortable hotel provides spacious accommodations, an inviting lobby, and easy access to everything Gulf Shores has to offer. With a relaxed atmosphere and attentive service, you'll rest easy and wake up ready to tee off each morning. It’s a quick and easy 3.5 mile drive to the beach and plentiful parking is available at Gulf State Park.
Golf
Each day will bring a new challenge and new scenery as we take on three of the area’s most respected golf courses. The specific date that we will play each course has not been determined but our first tee time will not be earlier than 8:00AM. Unfortunately, the courses do not allow shotgun starts unless the size of your group exceeds 40 golfers.
1. Cypress Bend Golf Club
Set amidst the peaceful woodlands just north of Gulf Shores, Cypress Bend is a local favorite known for its laid-back atmosphere and scenic surroundings. This 18-hole course is perfect for players of all skill levels, offering wide fairways and forgiving greens. It’s a great warm-up for the days ahead, with just the right balance of fun and strategy.
2. Cotton Creek at Craft Farms
Designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer, Cotton Creek is a must-play championship course. Rolling fairways, challenging water hazards, and beautifully manicured greens make for an exciting round every time. Just steps from our hotel, this course is known for its excellent conditions and Southern hospitality. It’s a true showcase of Palmer’s architectural genius in the heart of Alabama.
3. Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club
Our final round will be at Peninsula, a stunning 27-hole facility nestled between Mobile Bay and Bon Secour Wildlife Preserve. With live oaks, cypress trees, and scenic lake views, this course offers breathtaking natural beauty and a top-rated golf experience. The generous layout and pristine conditions make this one of the most enjoyable and picturesque rounds on the Gulf Coast.
Meals
We’re in for a delicious time in Gulf Shores, with a variety of meal experiences planned throughout the stay. On Sunday evening, we’ll kick things off with a Dessert Reception at the hotel—a great opportunity to connect with fellow members and guests. Complimentary breakfast will be provided at the Marriott Courtyard Gulf Shores from Monday through Wednesday to help you start each day right. Lunch will be on your own each day, giving you the chance to explore the local culinary scene at your leisure. Dinner on Sunday and Tuesday will be on your own, allowing for flexibility and personal dining choices. On Monday evening, we’ll come together for a group dinner at Cobalt Restaurant, a local favorite known for its waterfront views and fresh Gulf seafood; attire is business casual, with an optional sports jacket. Get ready to enjoy great food and even better company throughout your time in Gulf Shores!
Ladies’ Activities
As we finalize plans for our Gulf Shores trip, we’re exploring a few activity options for the ladies to enjoy while the golfers are out golfing. Nothing is set in stone yet—we're just gathering input to help us plan something fun and relaxing!
Here are a few possibilities being considered:
· Tour of Bellingrath Gardens and Home – Explore the beautiful gardens and historic home.
· Sightseeing & Shopping in Fairhope – Visit local shops, galleries, and enjoy the historic coastal town.
· Chef-Led Cooking Class with Lunch– A fun, hands-on culinary experience followed by a meal.
· Beach Day with Picnic Lunch– Lounge under an umbrella with a provided lunch and Gulf views.
We’d love your feedback! Please have your spouse or significant other indicate her preferences on the registration form so we can tailor the plans to the group’s interests.
This three-day Gulf Shores golf getaway promises to be a perfect blend of competitive fun, relaxation, and coastal flavor. Whether you’re chasing birdies or just enjoying the camaraderie, it’s a trip you won’t want to miss!

Smoky Mountain Country Club was designed by Thomas Walker. With nearly 40 years of experience in golf course design, and 29 golf courses to his name across the United States, Thomas Walker is well-known in golf circles as a premier designer of golf courses. Having served as Vice President of Gary Player Design for six years, his quest to create a visually stunning course echoes Gary Player’s core belief that a course should reflect beauty and harmony and put something back into nature.
Our course features impeccably maintained bent grass greens and Bermuda tees & fairways. The course plays just over 6,100 yards (par 71), with almost 400 feet of elevation change. Smoky Mountain Country Club is what you anticipate when playing mountain golf, as you will encounter a number of shots from significant elevations to target areas below. Golf at Little Ocmulgee’s Wallace Adams Course
Wallace Adams Golf Course is an affordable, peaceful, yet challenging experience golfers won’t soon forget. The classic 18-hole course is surrounded by loblolly pines, willows, and magnolias, in the secluded setting of Little Ocmulgee State Park & Lodge. Whether you’re planning a full-fledged golf getaway or playing a quick nine after work, Wallace Adams will quickly become one of your favorite golf courses in Georgia.
The top-flight venue features the well-maintained Bermuda fairways and TifEagle Bermuda greens that you’d expect from a golf resort. While most players opt for traversing the course in a cart, walking is permitted year-round. The full-service pro shop offers all golf accessories including club rentals, along with a snack and beverage bar. Wallace Adams also boasts a driving range, chipping area and practice green for players to warm up in advance of their round.
Pristine Setting, Classic Design
Once golfers are on the course, they not only bask in the pristine natural setting of Little Ocmulgee State Park, they appreciate the straightforward design of Wallace Adams. Free from distractions, players can take on a fair course with no hidden water hazards or secret sand traps.
The front nine is tight and requires players to bring their shot-making skills. The less restrictive back nine – originally designed by O.C. Jones of the renowned Robert Trent Jones family – tests players with smaller, sloped greens and doglegs on the fairways. Commonly described as ‘friendly’, the course design does not exclude any playing style and is suitable for golfers of all ages and abilities. The many doglegs throughout the 18-hole course mean golfers are more likely to play to a spot on the fairway to set up skillful second and third shots. Although long-ball hitters willing to take a chance may choose to air it out around the bends, Wallace Adams rewards a thoughtful approach to each stroke.
One round is all it will take to see why golfers around the Southeast continue to hail Wallace Adams as one of their favorite courses in Georgia.
